The carbide was marked with a surface etch. A light etch is produced the most contrast when marking on carbide. The cycle time for marking on the part was only 0.83 seconds. A bolder font was used to enhance the mark. The parts were marked with a 10-watt q-switched ytterbium fiber laser and a 160 mm focal length lens.
