Fiber Laser Technology is proving that Bigger isn't always Better.
In major industrial manufacturing plants across the nation, one would feel like they are walking into a large metropolitan city with outdated equipment the size of small buildings. The norm around the country seems to be the bigger the system the more productive it is. This philosophy might have been true 20 years ago when equipment had to be so large because that happened to be the newest and most compact technology. The same was true with computer technology. At one time the computer was the size of a room and had more moving parts than an airplane; today that same computer fits in the palm of your hand, with more advanced abilities. The bigger is better philosophy is just not true today, especially in the industrial laser industry. Most modern manufacturing plants are required to produce more in less time and due to the rising costs of doing business they have less space to do it in. Many manufacturers now understand that technology is improving at exponential rates and there is no need to have the large bulky costly machines to run their business efficiently. Lean manufacturing is becoming a reality around these plants; they need to find a way to lower production costs, save space and lower their carbon foot print, while producing more.
Laser Photonics' researchers have been watching these trends.
Laser Photonics has always been one step ahead in there development of new technologies and new equipment to help manufacturers. The Titan FLS 48 is just one of many new fiber laser systems that Laser Photonics has introduced to leading manufacturing plants. The size of the system is no longer important; it is the size of the technology that is prevailing. Fiber Laser Technology has been introduced into the manufacturing industry to help solve the problems of high speed precision metal cutting, marking, engraving and welding on highly reflective materials, such as brass, copper, titanium, aluminum, etc. All of these specialized solutions can now be found in a system that is a third the size of conventional outdated equipment, but light years ahead in technology. Imagine the ability to produce more precise products in a shorter amount of time with a smaller foot print of area used. The Titan FLS 48, fiber laser technology, and Laser Photonics are changing the norm and are making a huge impact in lean and green manufacturing.
