Opto-Mechanical Engineer

Laser Photonics LLC continued growth has created an opening for a highly motivated Opto-Mechanical Engineer with a strong optics background. This position requires skills and experience in the design and documentation of industrial laser systems.

• Create accurate, detailed designs for manufacturability.
• Work to document/CAD standards in coordination with other engineering personnel and engineering drafters.
• Ability to cost-reduce & improve existing laser system designs.
• Design & test laser systems.
• Make recommendations and participate in design reviews.
• Produce timely and accurate design projects
• Write quality system documentation

• BS in mechanical engineering, physics or equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years design/technical experience in laser equipment design.
• Experience designing quality optical systems for factory automation.
• Use of AutoCAD 2000 and Solid Edge is preferred.
• Knowledge of motors, motion controls and their relationship to laser machining.
• Experience with optics, lasers, controls, servos a plus.
• Proficiency with MS Office or equivalent software.
• Mechanical design using 3D tools is required; SOLIDWORKS is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills with customers, vendors and personnel.
• Familiarity with ISO quality standards.
