The foam samples were processed using the Laser Photonics SBM 1200M equipped with a 250 Watt CO2 laser and a 5.00" lens. The scrap samples were cut in halves in addition to having small squares cut out. The squares were cut to provide a more accurate representation of cutting speed since it involves starts, stops and moves --more so than the single line used to cut the parts in half. The foam was cut at 200mm per second in one pass.
